The architectural design presented for Zai Bodrum is by architect Serdar Akbulut.
Designed by Vitruvius Mimarlık, the Zai Bodrum restaurant is conceived as a contemporary building in dialogue with the natural setting of a complex that brings together art, culture and gastronomy. The two-storey volume combines a transparent ground floor opening onto the garden with an upper level defined by brick surfaces, establishing a balanced façade composition of solid and void. A tall, arched entrance defines the building’s identity, bringing together the tactile character of brick and the simple geometry of metal frames. Shading elements and vertical openings arranged around the arch make the changing daylight part of the architectural expression. Shadows cast across the surfaces lend depth to the façade and give the approach to the building a distinct spatial character. Generous glazing facing the garden establishes continuity between interior and exterior, bringing trees and landscape into the everyday life of the restaurant. Dining, gathering and spending time together are enriched by the relationships between materials, light and nature. With an artistic sensibility expressed through proportion, rhythm and detail, the project complements Zai Bodrum’s culture of sharing through a distinctive, timeless architectural language.
Restaurant architecture
The Zai Bodrum restaurant’s identity is defined by its tall arched entrance and the relationship between brick and metal. A transparent ground floor opens to the garden, balanced by the solid surfaces above. Shading, vertical openings and trees connect dining with an architectural experience extending into the landscape.
